The Coming of the Declaration on Independence: John Adams (I will get you the DVD.)
In this lesson, you will watch an episode from the mini-series John Adams. The episode centers on the decision to declare independence from Britain. While we--over 200 years removed--assume that the decision was an easy and an inevitable decision, the episode illustrates that this decision was a difficult one and one in which not all colonists favored. Below are character slides to keep cast members organized.
As you watch, do your best to complete the following: pages 3, 4, and 5 in the packet. Pages 3 consists of content questions from the film. Pages 4 and 5 are quotes from the movie. While memorizing quotes is a useless endeavor, knowing what is being said and recognizing who would say such words is an important indicator of understanding content. Do your best. We will discuss these when you have had time to complete the viewing.
